Respite Care Program

The Respite Care Program provides the time for caregivers of Veterans to have a rest, take a vacation, or receive medical attention. The Veteran needing care can enjoy a change of scenery, a change of routine, and an opportunity to socialize with staff and other Veterans. The Respite Care Program is provided on an inpatient basis at the Dayton VA center or at a community nursing home of the Veteran's choice. This program will provide temporary care to Veterans who are in need of hands on assistance with activities of daily living. It is provided on a short-term basis (minimum 15 day stay), not to exceed 30 days in a calendar year.

The Community Living Center (CLC) Admission Screening Board must review and approve all referrals for admission to the CLC. Medical (labs, CBC, chest X-ray, and up-to-date Medical Evaluation) and other referral information will be needed for screening board to review.
