WPAFB Airmen Visit Dayton VAMC to Distribute Valentines to Veterans

What: Dayton, OH — Love is in the air at the Dayton VA Medical Center (VAMC). Under the leadership of Colonel Barlow and Chief Mazza, Airmen from Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) will be visiting the Dayton VAMC on Valentine’s Day (February 14, 2013) at 1:00 PM to pass out Valentines to the hospitalized Veterans. The Valentines being distributed are crafted by local school children in celebration of the holiday and our Veterans. The Dayton VAMC would like to thank WPAFB leadership and the Airmen for visiting our campus to show their appreciation for Veterans and their service on Valentine’s Day.

The visit from WPAFB on February 14 is in recognition of National Salute to Veteran Patients Week. This week of celebration began in 1978 in the Veteran Administration. VA Voluntary Service staff plans and executes local events and activities at VA medical facilities across the country. On Saturday evening, February 16, 2013, Dayton VAMC's Voluntary Service will host a Valentine's for Veterans concert starring Daryle Singletary at Memorial Hall in downtown Dayton. The National Salute is observed annually during the week of Valentine's Day, a day of caring and sharing which underscore the Salute's expression of honor and appreciation to inpatient and outpatient Veterans.
