In honor of Black History Month, the Dayton VA Medical Center (VAMC) is hosting a Veterans' Roundtable Luncheon and Discussion. This program is sponsored by the Dayton VAMC's African American Special Emphasis Program Committee and Veteran Affairs Employee Association. Special guests for this program include: Mr. Jonas Bender, WWII Veteran and Montford Point Marine, and Ms. Jackie Williams, Air Force Veteran and Military Sexual Trauma Advocate who hosted showings of the "Invisible War."

Mr. Jonas Bender was honored for his service during World War II as part of the Montford Point Marines, the first group of African Americans in the Marine Corps. Mr. Bender received the Congressional Gold Medal on June 20, 2012, during a ceremony in Washington, DC honoring the Montford Point Marines. The Congressional Gold Medal is Congress' highest civilian honor.
