May 10, 2013
Dr. Byron M. Wade, Chief of Dental Services at the Dayton VAMC, is selected to serve as one of thirty American Board of Periodontology (ABP) Examiners. The examinations will take place in Dallas, Texas from May 10 – May 16, 2013. Dr. Wade will be teamed up with another examiner to conduct the oral examination portion of the ABP certification process. For a candidate to be awarded board certification they must complete the following:
- Certification as a dentist, including basic college education and completion of dental school to earn the D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree
- Certification as a periodontist after successful completion of an educational program in Periodontology, which is accredited by Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association
- Comprehensive qualifying and oral examination covering all phases of periodontal disease and its treatment, including dental implants
