The Dayton VA Welcomes New Executive Director of Research and Education Foundation

What: The Dayton VA is pleased to announce the hiring of a new Executive Director of the Dayton VA Research and Education Foundation (DVAREF), Mike Culhane. The nonprofit foundation was created to support the Dayton VA Medical Center by providing education and research opportunities to benefit Medical Center staff members and the overall Veterans Affairs research mission. Culhane was appointed on December 14, 2015.
Culhane brings more than 29 years of military and civilian federal sector healthcare management and leadership experience to the DVAREF, including 23 years as a Medical Service Corp Officer in the US Air Force. Most recently, Culhane supported the Air Force Medical Service as a Program Manager, developing and overseeing strategic level medical support contracts.
Culhane is a graduate of Elmhurst College (Illinois) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and holds Masters Degrees in both Public Administration from Roosevelt University (Illinois) and Health Administration from St. Louis University (Missouri). Additionally, Culhane completed the requirements for a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Administration from Wright State University and is a Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP).
Culhane is a native of Elmhurst, Illinois. He and his wife Penny reside in the Dayton area and have three grown children.
