Dayton VA National Cemetery to Host Annual Memorial Day Event

The Dayton VA National Cemetery will host their annual Memorial Day event on Monday, May 29, at 11 AM at the National Cemetery located on 4100 W Third Street.  The featured speaker for this year’s ceremony is Colonel John D. McKaye.  Colonel McKaye serves as the Commander, 655th Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Group at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
Guests should be aware of a change at this year’s ceremony – the gates leading to the Cemetery grounds will be closed on all sides.  Guests should enter the Dayton VA campus at the Gettysburg entrance and follow the “event” signs to the central parking lot, where shuttles will transport visitors to and from the Cemetery.  A wheelchair-accessible shuttle will be available as well.  Please note that while the shuttles will continue to run during the ceremony for anyone visiting a loved one’s gravesite, the shuttles will not go to the site of the ceremony while the ceremony is taking place, to avoid causing a distraction during this solemn event.  Guests planning to attend the ceremony should plan to arrive in time to be transported from the parking lot to the Cemetery prior to the event’s 11 AM start time.
