DAYTON VA TO CONDUCT “ACTIVE THREAT” TRAINING EXERCISE

The Dayton VA Medical Center will conduct an “active threat” training exercise from July 11 through July 15.  Most of this exercise will be behind the scenes and is not expected to impact medical appointments or access.

However, please be aware that we anticipate conducting a brief “lockdown” exercise  at approximately 1 PM on Wednesday, July 13th.  At this point, all doors will be locked and it will not be possible to enter or exit the facility.

“Brief” is the keyword here.  Our top priority will be to reopen the emergency department within minutes, followed shortly thereafter by the other departments which provide direct care to our Veterans.  We expect that the entire lockdown will be lifted within approximately 30 minutes.  For Veterans who have a medical appointment during this time, we request that they please arrive prior to 1 PM.

Additionally, we anticipate a heightened police presence on our campus on Friday, July 15 as part of the training exercise.  We do not antipicate that medical appointments or access will be affected on Friday.

We thank our Veterans for their patience and understanding as we conduct this important training exercise for the safety of our Veterans and our staff.
