Virtual Museum
Memorial Hall is a combination of theater, music hall, and general assembly room seating 1,500. It is located between Headquarters and Home Chapel. We have a professional stage where Veterans and the citizens of Dayton can attend recitals, concerts, and lectures by national and world notables. The furnishings are surpassed by few opera houses in the country. We have enjoyed 10 dramatic companies in the past 12 months. During this period, we
had 28 free plays and 22 paid plays. In the summer, a company is retained for a 10-week engagement and presents two dramatic shows a week. The musical clubs and choirs from Dayton make frequent visits, as well as musical troupes, often at no charge. We also have our own cast of performers. The Home Theater Company uses Veterans from the Home as
well as local talent in its productions. The Home Band plays evening and weekend concerts in Memorial Hall when they are not playing in the bandstand. They also provide orchestral arrangements for the shows. The show companies consider the Home Band as the finest orchestra west of Pittsburgh. A sidewalk in front of Memorial Hall takes us to a battery by the flagpole and a lawn that can be used for picnics.
