GLENN COSTIE RETURNING TO DAYTON VA - The Dayton VA Medical Center (VAMC) is excited to announce the return of CEO/Medical Center Director Glenn Costie, effective today, October 3rd. Mr. Costie has served in a temporary assignment as the Interim Director of the Cincinnati VAMC since May 16, 2016. Dayton VAMC Associate Director Mark Murdock has served as the Interim Director in Dayton during this time. The new Cincinnati VAMC Director, Vivian Hutson, recently retired at the rank of Colonel from the U.S. Army Medical Specialist Corps after 30 years of service, and comes to Cincinatti from the U.S. Army Office of the Surgeon General. Dayton Local World War II Veteran to be Honored - Dayton Local WWII Veteran Lowell Freeman will be honored on November 9th, at a ceremony at Fairborn High School. The ceremony is at 12:30 and will feature a garden dedication to Mr. Freeman. Freeman is a highly-decorated WWII Veteran and is believed to be the last living member of the Darby Rangers. The Darby Rangers, named after Major William Darby, was the 1st Ranger Battalion formed shortly after the United States entered the second World War. (11/13/2015)

Dayton VA to Host "Fisher House" Press Conference - The Dayton VA will host a press conference announcing their desire to become the home of a new Fisher House for Veterans and their family members on Veterans Day, November 11th, at 1 PM. Participate in Relay for Life to Honor Late Employee - Heather Bacos was a loving wife, and mother of two beautiful daughters, one six years old and the other two years old. In January of 2011, she began working at the Dayton Veteran Affairs Medical Center's Richmond Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). At the Richmond CBOC, Heather worked in the Patient Business Service. She was a great fit for the VA because she had a loving personality and was a Veteran herself. She was previously in the Navy, as a Corpsman. Those who knew Heather said she had the ability to brighten up everyone's life that she met. (07/30/2013)

Dr. Byron M. Wade, Named American Board of Periodontology (ABP) Examiner - Dr. Byron M. Wade, Chief of Dental Services at the Dayton VAMC, is selected to serve as one of thirty American Board of Periodontology (ABP) Examiners. The examinations will take place in Dallas, Texas from May 10 – May 16, 2013. Dr. Wade will be teamed up with another examiner to conduct the oral examination portion of the ABP certification process. The Dayton VA Medical Center (VAMC) Celebrates the Opening of the New Hospice Unit - The Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) is celebrating the opening of their new state of the art Hospice Unit, known as Victory Ridge, by hosting a ribbon cutting and open house ceremony. The Director of the Dayton VAMC, Glenn Costie, and others, will speak about the benefits the new Hospice Unit will provide to Veterans and their families. Dayton VA Medical Center Offers New Long-Term Care Option for Veterans - The Dayton VA Medical Center Medical Foster Home (MFH) Program is seeking caregivers who are willing to open up their own home to provide care for Veterans who are unable to safely live independently and require daily supervision and assistance.
