I am looking forward to getting to know the staff, the local Veteran Service Organizations and especially the Veterans we serve to work together to ensure that the Dayton VA Medical Center continues to provide an environment of care worthy of our Veterans.
I hope my new colleagues will see this as the opportunity to bring forth their best ideas to benefit those we are privileged to serve.
I also know the employees here are committed to serving Veterans, first and foremost. I like to say, we must "Do It Well" and "Do it Nice" – and that's what we intend to do... together we can make this facility a center of excellence.
Any change in leadership involves a transition period, especially for the employees of an organization. I want to thank Guy Richardson for the warm welcome he extended to me and for his continuing service to Veterans at the VA Health Care System of Ohio Network.
On Friday, March 11, 2011, I conducted two town hall meetings with employees to start a dialogue, to provide a venue for any concerns, and to show that I am here to listen.
I want to make the commitment that we will hit the ground running together, and Veterans can be confident that the care they will receive at Dayton VA Medical Center will be second to none. Thank you.
