The Dayton VA Medical Center (VAMC) activated its new Veterans Mobile Clinic in July 2010. The Veterans Mobile Clinic provides on-site outreach to enroll and provide primary care services to Veterans in rural areas. Dayton VAMC's Outreach staff is collaborating with County Veterans Service Officers to maximize impact, getting services to Veterans. The Veterans Mobile Health Clinic provides friendly on-site quality services along with information on the various services offered at the Dayton VAMC and its (4) Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). Three (3) in Ohio: Lima, Middletown, and Springfield, and one (1) in Richmond, Indiana. By operating in the different rural counties, Veterans have a greater opportunity to enroll into the VA health care system. The Veterans Mobile Clinic will have the ability to provide Veterans with a basic-health assessment, and coordinated medical treatment, and social work services on-site, to assist Veterans. The Veterans Mobile Clinic is working closely with local county and state agencies including Veteran organizations. In most counties, the Veterans Mobile Clinic will be operating on a ten hour/a day/ six days a week schedule. The Veterans Mobile Clinic will be operating in all counties located in the Dayton VAMC's primary service area, but the following counties will be visited on a regular basis: Darke, Preble, Miami, Shelby, Logan, Champaign, Greene, Butler, Warren, and Clinton. Scheduling: If an organization would like to schedule the Veterans Mobile Clinic at an event, or would like to request the schedule of upcoming visits contact: Jason Casto, Dayton VAMC’s Outreach Coordinator at (937) 268-6511, Ext. 3111. |
